2016 Les Terrasses Rouge, Pesquié

2016 Les Terrasses Rouge, Pesquié

Ref: PESQ160
Red  |  Still  |  13.5% ABV

The Bastide family bought Pesquié from a local author in 1970, three years before Ventoux was officially recognised with its own appellation. The daughter and son-in-law took over the estate in the mid-1980s, the son-in-law's family having been grape growers in Algeria for 150 years (having emigrated from Alsace to avoid German occupation in the 1870s). And another generational change took place in 2003. The estate bottled its first vintage in 1990 after extracting itself from the local co-operative. There has been wine growing in this region for over 2000 years.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

The nose here is a touch reduced, but nothing that an airing won't dispel. Aromas are otherwise of delicious dark fruits and a distinct nuttiness. There are opening moments of fleshiness here and the black fruit of pure plums. Then it quickly develops significant structure that is faintly saline in nature. This needs a year, but it is very concentrated and direct and wonderfully well defined. What stunning wine for the money. Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
