2010 Barbaresco Starderi, Renato Fenocchio

2010 Barbaresco Starderi, Renato Fenocchio

Ref: FENN102
Red  |  Still  |  14.5% ABV

The history of these wines begins early in the XIX century, when the Fenocchio family moved from Monforte d’Alba to Barbaresco. Renato's great-grandparents started off with a dairy-farm, attending to the growing and cultivation of numerous products, such as vines, hazelnuts and cereals. Having worked in one of the most important cellars in Barbaresco Renato expanded the family farm, acquiring a further 11ha for the production of wine. Renato and wife Milva still sell off a good proportion of their production in bulk, not only keeping quality high, but also cash flowing (with a production averaging 25,000 bottles per year - and with just the two of them - there’s only so much they can physically handle).

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

Gosh, this is lovely. The fruit is marginally darker than the regular bottling and displays a hint of nut about it. Really a very elegant wine and has more of that peacock's tail fan that spreads out across one's palate. This is grippy and super-long, its subtlety preventing it from becoming overbearing. Just a lovely, lovely wine. Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
