2009 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Etienne Sauzet

2009 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Etienne Sauzet

Ref: SAUZ095
White  |  Still  |  14% ABV

Etienne Sauzet created this celebrated domaine in the first half of the 20th century, having inherited some vineyards and acquired others. The estate is now run by Emilie Sauzet, great-granddaughter of Etienne, and her partner Benoît Riffault. In 1991 some vineyards were lost through inheritance to Emilie's uncle, Jean-Marc Boillot. The estate now augments its production with bought-in fruit sourced from trusted growers. Sauzet has been biodynamic since 2010.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"This is slightly more densely fruited and just as complex if not quite as refined as the very ripe orchard fruit and white flower-infused nose is liberally sprinkled with lemon nuances that continue onto the round, rich and generous broad-shouldered flavors that are very Bâtard in character and culminate in an explosive and palate staining finish of sensational persistence. I really like the poise and sense of harmony here and while it's too soon to know for sure, it's possible that this will one day catch the Chevalier as it's extremely impressive." Burghound

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
