2018 Cuvée, Aseginolaza & Leunda

2018 Cuvée, Aseginolaza & Leunda

Ref: ASEG180
Red  |  Still  |  14.5% ABV

An exciting, if difficult to memorize and pronounce, new name in Navarra.Luis Gutierrez

Aseginolaza & Leunda are Jon and Pedro, two school friends from the Basque Country currently living in Navarra. They are environmental biologists but have become crazy about one thing: old vine Grenache! Once they have found ancient – and often forsaken – unirrigated, bush-vines, they set about rehabilitating the vineyard without recourse to either herbicides or to systemic pesticides. Their philosophy is equally simple: maximum respect for the environment combined with minimal intervention in the winery.

Tasting Notes

N.B. This is Grenache with 25% Carignan (Mazuelo in Spanish). 25% whole bunch.
This offers the nose rich blue and darker snappy fruit complicated by aromas of spice and leather and nut, the whole coming across as really quite a floral thing. In the mouth and I find an elegant density backed by juicy acidity and wonderfully silken tannins. This really is extremely statuesque. Bowes Wine original note

The palate is serious and has lively acidity, fine but firm tannins, with focused, clean flavors and a long, tasty finish.Luis Gutierrez

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
