“An exciting, if difficult to memorize and pronounce, new name in Navarra.” Luis Gutierrez
Aseginolaza & Leunda are Jon and Pedro, two school friends from the Basque Country currently living in Navarra. They are environmental biologists but have become crazy about one thing: old vine Grenache! Once they have found ancient – and often forsaken – unirrigated, bush-vines, they set about rehabilitating the vineyard without recourse to either herbicides or to systemic pesticides. Their philosophy is equally simple: maximum respect for the environment combined with minimal intervention in the winery.

N.B. This is 50:50 Grenache:Mazuelo from a tiny vineyard on a terrace overlooking the River Ebro, planted in very poor soils.
Nose here is really rather firm, closed even. And there’s that greenhouse scent of geranium leaf to the dark aromas of tea leaves and wild fruits, both red and black: bramble and plum. There’s immediate tang to a palate that’s both dense and backward. Tannins are almond and very grippy and amazing freshness runs through it. A properly linear wine of superb sustain and a wonderfully authoritative finish, mineral and tacky. Bowes Wine original note
“This is very expressive, aromatic, extremely floral, open and showy. It seems to have the ripeness and exuberance of a warm zone and the seriousness and freshness of a cooler year.” Luis Gutierrez
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
