The brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella founded the winery Falesco in 1979 in Montefiascone, Lazio, with the aim of recovering the ancient vineyards of the area. They virtually single-handedly saved the Rossetto variety, being alone in bottling a mono-varietal version. They also make Est! Est!! Est!!!, as well as Montiano, a 100% Merlot.

"Falesco's top offering is a 100% barrique-aged Merlot, the 2000 Montiano. While it may not equal the quality of the 1999 or 1997, it comes close. The 2000 boasts an opaque purple color in addition to a sumptuous perfume of graphite, blackberries, currants, licorice, and subtle pain grille notes. With great depth, full body, sweet tannin, and a long, layered, elegant finish, it should drink well between 2005-2020. Bravo!" Robert Parker
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
