The only way to describe Pernand's position behind the Hill of Corton and flanked by valley slopes is nestled. It sits encased within the vined hillsides and very much off the normal trail for the tourists that make their pilgrimage to the spiritual - and, indeed, actual - home of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wine production.
Some do visit Pernand (not least a number of Bowes Wine clients) but are generally tempted away from the more celebrated villages adorning the RN74 by a visit to a specific winery. And perhaps the Pernand producer with the most "pull" is Domaine Rollin, run by the extremely affable Rémi Rollin and his son Simon.
Bowes Wine clients will know the affection with which we regard this 14 hectares estate and their wines. There is something entirely unpretentious about the owners and their wines... and, indeed, their pricing strategy!
We have been following this estate for many years, and that despite the difficulty one has in selling a wine that many a consumer finds hard to pronounced (the "g" in Vergelesses is soft, if that helps).
Thus it is good to get some coverage in the press: Bowes Wine was listed in The Sunday Times last weekend as a stockist of the 2017 Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc Les Cloux, Domaine Rollin.

The wines of Domaine Rollin
And yes, we still have (limited) stock of the 2017 Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc Les Cloux. Also listed below are all Rollin wines which we can currently offer.
If you avoid these wines because the branding is a touch obscure, I am sorry. You are missing out on some true bargains. And some thoroughly delicious wines, to boot.
2011 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rollin Père et Fils
£63 a bottle in bond
"...it's really a lovely example of the appellation." Burghound
N.B. Just a couple of bottles left
2015 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rollin Père et Fils
£384 in bond per 6
"... volume, concentration and muscle to the big-bodied flavors that deliver excellent length on the finish that also displays bitter lemon hints." Burghound
2016 Pernand Vergelesses, Rollin Père et Fils
£132 in bond per 6
"...vibrant, stony and impressively precise flavors that are dry in the best sense and quite refreshing. Lovely for what it is." Burghound
2016 Pernand Vergelesses Blanc Les Cloux, Rollin Père et Fils
£156 in bond per 6
"Once again there is a lovely sense of vibrancy to the mineral-driven and beautifully delineated flavors that possess a beguiling texture before culminating in a chiseled finish where the complexity displayed by the nose returns. This too is really lovely." Burghound
2017 Pernand Vergelesses Blanc, Rollin Père et Fils
£111 in bond per 6
"The mouth feel of the middle weight flavors is also fleshy and plump though there is a bit more depth on the citrusy and equally refreshing finish. Note that this could easily be enjoyed young." Burghound
2017 Pernand Vergelesses Blanc Les Cloux, Rollin Père et Fils
£138 in bond per 6
"...there is both good freshness and verve to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess an attractive palate impression before concluding in a saline, refreshing and very dry finish." Burghound
2017 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, Rollin Père et Fils
£432 in bond per 6
"The much bigger, rich and more concentrated middle weight plus flavors exhibit solid muscle and power on the overtly stony finish..." Burghound
2017 Pernand Vergelesses Rouge 1er Cru Ile de Vergelesses, Rollin Père et Fils
£165 in bond per 6
"There is excellent vibrancy if not density to the more mineral-inflected lighter weight flavors that flash fine detail on the lingering and mildly austere finale. This is definitely on the light side but undeniably pretty." Burghound
